Stitching Weather

Now THIS is stitching weather! We've had three winter storms in the past week and the next has just begun. We're supposed to get another foot of snow by Sunday morning.
You can see I'm making some good progress on BITD and Lord willing, being 'snowed in' this weekend I hope to get a good bit more done. If the 'neighbors' will just not be too demanding! Here is our neighbor Mr. Flicker
An our dear deer neighbors.

BITD is almost half done and I really do feel I'm 'back in the day' stitching this one. Not only because of the style of this design, but I've been doing a lot of reading at a remarkable site I'd like to share with you called Hearth.

This is Cornell University's online library of all things related to Home Economics published between 1850 and 1950.

It is amazing to see the level of knowledge from the most mundane to the most sophisticated of topics relating to home and hearth that was published in books, magazines, periodicals during that century of time. A true treasure trove!

Counted Wishes Festival & BITD Inspirations

Mark your calendars for the Counted Wishes Festival, an online festival for cross stitch design, March 15th-21st. I look forward to participating for the first time this year and Back In The Day will go on sale at the festival.
BITD is progressing and I wanted to share some other inspiration for this piece. As I was gathering motifs/images I wanted for this design I found an interesting pattern in a piece of our EAPG (early American pressed glass) collection.

This beautiful old compote stands in one of our bathrooms, filled with scented soaps. It's triangular pattern is so rhythmic and you can see I used it in the two green and blue bands bordering the orange Assissi band.
